About the Family Roots
All our cousins spring from the union of Arthur Whipple Lee and Minnie "Vandiver" Lee.
Arthur was one of four children. He had a sister named Bertha "Lee" Baldridge, one brother named William "Uncle Bill" Lee, and another brother, Robert. Arthur's dad's name was Durfa Agusta Lee.
Bertha Lee was born in 1892 at Hill City, Graham County, Kansas. Her Parents were Durfa Agusta Lee and Alice Whipple. Bertha Lee would marry Oden Baldridge.
Arthur's brother, William, would leave no issue, nor would his brother Robert, who passed away in 1912.
Arthur W. and Minnie "Vandiver" Lee would give rise to a large line of cousins through the births of their ten children. ALL OUR COUSINS have sprung from various branches of these ten lines (listed below in random order).

Durfa Agusta Lee was born September 30, 1851, at Duplain, Clinton County, Michigan and died December 1, 1898, at Fitzgerald, Ben Hill County, Georgia. Durfa Agusta Lee's parents were Hiram (also Hyrum) Lee and Nancy Galligan. Durfa married Alice Whipple in 1888 at Hill City, Graham County, Kansas.
Hiram/Hyrum Lee was born in 1824 - possibly in New York, Michigan, Canada, or some other area of the "upper country." Hiram died May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania, Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Hiram married Nancy Galligan, October 3, 1846, at Duplain, Clinton County, Michigan.

Durfa Lee's wife was Alice Whipple. She was born March 18, 1864 at Warren Township, Dekalb, Illinois. After Durfa died, she married William Havice in 1899. They had children Ruby (born 1900) and Theodore (born 1901)Alice died August 14, 1949 at Dekalb, Illinois.
Alice's father was Daniel Nelson Whipple (His tombstone lists him as Daniel N Whipple, but he was listed as Nelson Whipple on at least one census record). Daniel was born January 20, 1834 at Greenfield, Saratoga, New York and lived there at least through 1850. By 1864 Nelson had moved to Illinois where Alice was born. By 1880 he was living in Graham County, Kansas where Durfa and Alice met and married. Nelson later moved back to Illinois and died June 7, 1926. He is buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Waukegan Lake, Illinois. There is a photo of his tombstone on findagrave.com. Daniel N. Whipple married Lucinda Berthena Warren September 29, 1857 in Kane County, Illinois. She died about 1893 in Graham County, Kansas and is buried there. Alice was Daniel N. and Lucinda “Warren” Whipple’s only child.
Daniel's father was William Whipple, born 1812 in Saratoga County, New York. He was married to Luanna (unknown). They are living in Illinois in the 1870 census.
Some records state that William's father was William P. Whipple, born 1782 in Rhode Island. William P’s father was Israel Whipple, born 1754 in Rhode Island. Israel’s father was also named Israel Whipple-no date or place of birth known.
